"Paper Pushers: Methods & Materials" challenges conventional perceptions of what artworks made using paper and print can be. A far cry from the monotonous desk-bound tasks often attributed to 'paper pushers', these experimental works play on the term by showcasing instead the depth and diversity of contemporary artists practice today, highlighting the melding of ideas between two parties - the artists, and the print and papermaking team. This vivid exchange of concepts, techniques and experiences at the region's largest print and paper facility gives way to new methodologies, breaking material and conceptual boundaries. Not one project is the same - each task is anything but routine.
This exhibition features 7 artists - Hema Udaphyay, Lin Tianmiao, Richard Deacon, Thukral & Tagra, Ashley Bickerton, Heman Chong and Ronald Ventura - who ventured to stretch the expressive potential of the humble, common material.
